Osteoporosis

Osteoporosis is when your bones become very weak and break easily. It happens when your body doesn't make enough new bone or loses too much old bone. It's kind of like building with blocks - if you don't have enough blocks, your tower will be weak and fall down easily.

As you grow up, your bones get bigger and stronger. But when you get older, your body starts to slow down and not make as much new bone. This can happen more in women after they go through menopause. When your bones become weak, they can break really easily. Even a small fall or bump can make them break.

To help prevent osteoporosis, it's important to eat healthy foods with lots of calcium and vitamin D. This can include things like milk and cheese, broccoli, and fish. It's also important to exercise and move your body to help keep your bones strong. If you're worried about osteoporosis, you can talk to your doctor - they can help you with ways to prevent it or treat it if you already have it.
