Our Lady of the Pillar is a special title given to Mary, the mother of Jesus, in the Catholic religion. According to a story from a long time ago, St. James, one of Jesus' disciples, was in Spain spreading Christianity. One night, Mary appeared to him on top of a pillar of jasper and told him to build a church in her honor on that very spot. She even left him a statue made of jasper to put in the church.
Over many years, many people have come to visit the church and pray to Our Lady of the Pillar. They ask her to help them with their problems and to watch over them. The statue on the pillar has become very important and is considered a symbol of faith and hope for many people.
Now, Catholics celebrate a feast day dedicated to Our Lady of the Pillar every year on October 12th. People offer flowers to the statue and pray for blessings from Mary. She is seen as a loving mother who will help guide and protect her children, just like a mom would.
