ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Overall nutritional quality index

Okay kiddo, so you know how food is really important for our body to work properly? And there are different types of food, like fruits, vegetables, meat, and junk food, right?

Now, some foods are really good for our body and make us healthy, while others are not so good and can make us sick if we eat too much of them. The overall nutritional quality index is like a way to measure how good or bad the food we eat is for us.

It looks at different things in the food, like how many vitamins and minerals it has, how many calories, and how much fat or sugar.

So, let's say you eat a banana. Bananas have a lot of vitamins and minerals that are good for your body, and they don't have a lot of fat or sugar. So, they would have a high nutritional quality index.

But if you eat a cheeseburger, it has a lot of fat and calories, but not a lot of good stuff for your body. So, it would have a low nutritional quality index.

The overall nutritional quality index helps us understand which foods are good for our body and which ones we should try to eat less of.
