Ovinnik

Okay kiddo, have you ever heard of a creature called an ovinnik? It's actually a kind of spirit in Slavic folklore that is often linked to the cold winter months.

Now, the ovinnik is said to be small, dark and mischievous. It likes to cause trouble and makes its home in chimneys or hearths. Sometimes it will swat at people or animals passing by, or it might steal food if it gets a chance.

But the really interesting thing about the ovinnik is that it's supposed to have power over fire. If it's in a good mood, it might help a family keep their fire going all night by tending to it while they sleep. But if it's in a bad mood, it might put the fire out or even set the house on fire!

So, in a way, the ovinnik is a bit like a tiny, mischievous, fire spirit. And while it might sound like fun to have one around, it's probably better to keep it at a safe distance and make sure to keep your fire under control.
