The first layer on the bottom is mashed potatoes, just like the kind you might have with your dinner. The second layer is seasoned ground beef, sort of like when we make tacos. And the top layer is corn!

People think that pâté chinois got its name because it was made by Chinese Canadian railway workers a long time ago. The dish was so tasty that it spread around Canada and became a traditional meal that people still make and eat today!

So, basically, pâté chinois is a delicious layered dish with potatoes, beef, and corn that got its name from something that happened a long time ago. It's a favorite dish of many Canadians and is definitely worth a try!
