Okay kiddo, so inside our bodies we have things called enzymes that help with making certain chemicals. One of these enzymes is called PTGS1 (pronounced like "pit-gee-ess-one"). PTGS1 helps make another chemical called prostaglandin that helps with things like pain and inflammation. Think of it like PTGS1 is a builder who helps make a "lego" piece called prostaglandin that our body uses to help fix things when they get hurt or fight off germs. It's important to have PTGS1 to make prostaglandin, but sometimes too much of it can cause problems like too much pain or swelling. So doctors can give medicine to help control how much PTGS1 is being made and keep us feeling better.
