Pacemaker (running)

Okay kiddo, have you ever heard of a watch? It helps you tell what time it is. Now, imagine if you had a watch, but instead of telling you the time, it helps your heart beat at the right speed. That is called a pacemaker.

You see, our hearts are like pumps that keep blood flowing throughout our bodies. Sometimes, due to different reasons, the "pump" doesn't work properly and needs help. That's where a pacemaker comes in. It's a tiny device that doctors put under the skin near your heart. It sends electrical signals to your heart muscles to beat at a steady and normal pace.

Now, remember when we run around and play? Our heart beats faster because our body needs more oxygen to keep up. But if someone has a heart problem, their heart may not be able to speed up like that. That's when a pacemaker comes in handy for runners or anyone living with a heart condition. It helps their heart beat at a healthy pace no matter what they're doing. So they can run, play and do all sorts of things without worrying about their heart.

That's pacemaker for you! It's a special little device that keeps our hearts healthy and happy.
