ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Palm Sunday

Palm Sunday is a special day that happens before Easter, and it's a day when people remember and celebrate an important event in the Christian religion.

Long ago, a very important person named Jesus was living in a place called Jerusalem. People really liked Jesus because he did many good things like healing people and teaching them important lessons about how to be kind and loving.

One day, Jesus rode into town on a donkey, and many people came out to see him. They were so excited to see him that they spread out their cloaks and palm branches on the ground, creating a path for Jesus to walk on.

The people also shouted praises and sang songs, saying things like "Hosanna!" and "Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!" They were celebrating and welcoming Jesus like he was a king or a hero.

This big event is remembered on Palm Sunday, and many churches have special services where people wave palm branches and sing songs to remember and honor Jesus. It's also a reminder that Jesus is important and loved by many people.
