Okay kiddo, have you ever seen a pastry that looks like a little heart or leaf? That's called a palmier! To make a palmier, we start by flattening out some dough into a big rectangle. Next, we sprinkle some sugar all over the dough. Then we fold the dough in half so it looks like a long skinny rectangle with sugar in the middle.
Now comes the fun part - we cut the dough into little slices so that they look like hearts or leaves. Then, we take each slice and mush it down a little bit so it's flat. Finally, we bake the palmiers in the oven until they're golden brown and crispy.
When the palmiers come out of the oven, they're flaky and delicious! They're a perfect treat for breakfast or as a little snack during the day. So next time you see a little heart or leaf-shaped pastry, you'll know it's a palmier!
