Panbabylonism is the idea that all the stories and beliefs of different cultures around the world come from one (or a few) ancient civilization(s) in Mesopotamia.
Imagine that a long, long time ago, there was a big group of people who lived in a place called Mesopotamia. They had lots of stories and beliefs that they passed down from generation to generation.
Now imagine that these people moved to different parts of the world and shared their stories and beliefs with the people they met there. Over time, these stories and beliefs changed a little bit as each culture made them their own.
Panbabylonism says that all the stories and beliefs from different cultures around the world, like the stories of creation and flood, were actually originally from Mesopotamia. They may have been changed a little bit, but they all started from the same place.
Some people believe in panbabylonism because they think it’s a way to understand the similarities between different cultures’ stories and beliefs. Others think it’s not true because there’s not enough evidence to prove it.
