ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Papal majordomo

So, you know how when you’re at a birthday party there’s usually someone who helps the person whose birthday it is? They might help them cut the cake or pass out party hats.

Well, the Pope is kind of like the person whose birthday it is - he’s the person who’s in charge of the Catholic Church. And just like at a party, there’s someone who helps the Pope out. That person is called the Papal Majordomo.

The Papal Majordomo helps the Pope with all kinds of things, like making sure his clothes are clean and pressed, setting up important meetings, and even making sure the Pope’s meals are ready when he wants them.

It’s a very important job, because the Papal Majordomo has to make sure everything runs smoothly so that the Pope can focus on his important work.
