Okay, so you know how sometimes you go on a trip with your family to visit new places and see new things? The pope does that too, but when he travels, it's called "papal travel."
The pope is the leader of the Catholic Church, and he usually lives in Vatican City, which is a very small country inside of Rome, Italy. But sometimes the pope wants to visit other countries or cities to meet with other people who are part of the Catholic Church, to learn about different cultures, or to help promote peace and kindness in the world.
When the pope decides to travel, a lot of things have to be planned and organized to make sure everything goes smoothly. First, the people in charge of the trip (like the pope's assistants and security team) have to figure out where the pope wants to go and what he wants to do there. They also have to make sure that the places he visits are safe and that he can get there easily.
Once the plan is set, the pope gets on a plane (like you might do when you go on vacation) and he flies to the first place on his trip. When he arrives, he is usually greeted by a lot of people who are excited to see him. Sometimes they sing or dance or give him presents.
During the trip, the pope often gives speeches or talks to the people he meets, where he talks about important things like how to be kind to others, how to help people in need, and how to be a good Catholic. He might also celebrate Mass (which is a special church ceremony) with the people he meets.
When the trip is over, the pope gets back on a plane and flies back to Vatican City. Then he rests for a little while before getting back to his work as the leader of the Catholic Church.
