Paper embossing

Have you ever looked at a piece of paper and seen that it has a little bump that makes a pattern or picture stand up? That's called an embossed design!

When you want to emboss paper, you start with a flat piece of paper and put it between two metal plates or molds. One of these plates has a design that you want to create on the paper.

Next, you use a machine or a special tool to press the two plates together very hard. This squeezes the paper between them and makes the design on the mold stick out on the paper!

The result is a fancy paper design that feels extra special to touch because it has a 3D texture. You can even do this with your own designs if you have the right tools!
