Parallel array

Parallel array is a term used to describe two or more arrays (lists of things) which are related to each other. For example, imagine you have a list of names and a list of ages. The names list and the ages list are parallel to each other because each name in the names list is related to the age in the ages list that is beside it. So, if your names list says "Sally", then the ages list next to it might say "10", meaning that Sally is 10 years old.
