Paremiography

Paremiography is a big word that means the study of proverbs or sayings. A proverb is a short saying that says something wise or gives advice. For example, "An apple a day keeps the doctor away" is a proverb. Paremiographers study these sayings and figure out where they come from and what they mean. They write down the proverbs and try to understand how they relate to different cultures and events. It's kind of like studying little nuggets of wisdom that people have been saying for centuries!
