The Korean War happened a long time ago. There were two sides fighting in the war. One side was called the Communists, and the other side was called the United Nations. The Communists were from North Korea, and the United Nations were from a lot of different countries.
Partisans were people who fought for the Communists but were not part of the regular army. They were like helpers who hid in the mountains and forests and came out to attack the United Nations soldiers. They were really good at hiding and sneaking around.
The partisans had to be careful because the United Nations soldiers were always looking for them. If they were caught, the soldiers might hurt them or make them go to jail. The partisans didn't want that to happen, so they were very careful.
Sometimes, the partisans would help the regular Communist army by gathering information about the United Nations soldiers. They would also help the communist soldiers to ambush the United Nations soldiers.
Even though the partisans were not part of the regular army, they were important because they helped the Communists to fight against the United Nations soldiers.
