ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Pasquier Quesnel

Pasquier Quesnel was a person who lived a long time ago. He was born in 1634 in France. He became a very important religious leader, which means he had a special job in the church.

At that time, there was a big group of people called Catholics who believed in a certain way of doing things in the church. But Pasquier Quesnel didn't agree with everything they believed in.

He believed that everyone should be able to read and understand the Bible, which is like a very special book for Christians that teaches them about God. Not everyone thought this was a good idea because they believed that only certain special religious people should read and explain the Bible to others.

Pasquier Quesnel thought that reading the Bible would bring people closer to God and make them better people. He wanted to teach people to be kind and loving to others, and he believed that the Bible had all the answers to how people should live their lives.

But the Catholic leaders didn't like what Pasquier Quesnel was saying. They thought it was dangerous because they believed that only the church should have the power to tell people how to live their lives. They didn't want everyone to think for themselves and read the Bible on their own.

So, the Catholic leaders got angry with Pasquier Quesnel and tried to stop him from saying and teaching the things he believed in. They told him he was wrong and tried to make him change his ideas, but he didn't want to.

Pasquier Quesnel believed so strongly in what he was teaching that he refused to change his ideas, no matter how much the Catholic leaders pressured him. He believed that his way of thinking was right and that everyone should have the chance to read and understand the Bible.

Because he didn't agree with the Catholic leaders, Pasquier Quesnel was eventually expelled from the church. This means he was kicked out and not allowed to be a part of the church anymore. But he didn't let that stop him.

Even though he faced a lot of difficulties and challenges, Pasquier Quesnel continued to write and teach what he believed. He believed that God was on his side and that he was doing the right thing by sharing his ideas with others.

His beliefs and teachings ended up inspiring many people, even after he passed away. Many years later, people started to think that maybe he was right and that everyone should have the chance to read and understand the Bible. They started to share his ideas and some even formed new churches based on his teachings.

So, even though Pasquier Quesnel faced many struggles and was expelled from the church, his beliefs and teachings ended up making a big impact on many people. He believed that everyone should have the chance to learn about God and make their own choices about how to live their lives.
