ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Passive Wi-Fi

Passive Wi-Fi is like magic! You know how you can talk to your friends by yelling across the playground, but it's hard to hear them if they're far away? Wi-Fi is like that, but instead of talking to your friends, your computer talks to the internet.

Passive Wi-Fi is a special kind of Wi-Fi that makes it easier for your computer to talk to the internet without using too much energy. It's like using a bigger megaphone, so your voice can travel further without needing to shout.

You see, Wi-Fi uses a lot of energy to send and receive signals. But with passive Wi-Fi, your device doesn't have to use as much energy because it doesn't have to make its own signal. Instead, it uses a super special device called a "passive sensor" that can listen to other devices talking and then send those same signals back out.

That means your device can use less energy and still talk to the internet just as well. And since it uses less energy, the battery in your device doesn't run out as quickly!

So, in summary, passive Wi-Fi is like a super special kind of Wi-Fi that makes it easier for your device to talk to the internet without using too much energy. Think of it like using a bigger megaphone instead of yelling across the playground.
