Patient and mortuary neglect

Alright kiddo, so do you know what a hospital or a nursing home is? These are places where people go when they are sick or need help taking care of themselves.

Sometimes, unfortunately, the people who work in these places don't take very good care of the patients. This is called patient neglect. For example, if a patient needs help going to the bathroom, but the nurse doesn't respond to their call for help, that's neglect.

Now, let's talk about mortuary neglect. Do you know what happens when someone dies? Sometimes their body is taken to a place called a mortuary, where it will be prepared for a funeral or burial.

But, just like in hospitals and nursing homes, sometimes the people who work in mortuaries don't take very good care of the bodies. This is called mortuary neglect. For example, if the mortuary staff doesn't properly store or preserve the body, it can start to decompose and that's not respectful to the person who has passed away.

Neglect is not okay in any situation, and it's important for everyone to take good care of each other, especially when someone is sick or has passed away.
