ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Patron day

A patron day is like a special day for a specific person, but lots of people celebrate it too. It's called a "patron" because it's like a really great friend of a group of people or a place. For example, St. Patrick's Day is a patron day for people of Irish descent. It's a day to celebrate and remember St. Patrick, who was a really important person in Irish history. People might wear green on St. Patrick's Day, eat special Irish food, and have parades in his honor. It's a day to remember and celebrate someone who is important to a group of people.
