Pedogenesis

Pedogenesis is the process of soil formation from rocks and other materials. It happens over a really long time, like how you grow over many years. Just like how your body changes as you grow, soil also changes over time as things get added to it and weather affects it. Different types of soil form depending on things like the climate, kinds of rocks, and plants that are in the area. Think of it like baking a cake - you mix together ingredients to make something new, and as you bake it, it changes into a cake. But instead of baking, pedogenesis happens over thousands of years with changes you can't see right away.
