Penal system in China

The penal system in China is the set of laws and institutions that decide what happens when someone has done something bad. In China, the way punishment works is that people who break the law, called criminals, can go to prison or get some other kind of punishment. Prison is like a big house that the police keep the criminal in while they are not allowed to go out and do stuff like they normally would. Other punishments can be fines (having to pay money) or special types of jobs that criminals have to do. In China, they also sometimes give very long prison sentences as punishment.
