Perchtenlaufen

Okay kiddo, so there's a festival in Austria called Perchtenlaufen. People dress up in scary costumes and parade through the streets, kind of like Halloween.

But there's more to it than that! The people in the costumes are pretending to be these creatures from folklore called Perchten. They're like magical beings that come out in the winter to chase away bad things and bring good luck.

So when the people go on this parade, they're kind of acting out the idea of the Perchten scaring off the bad and bringing in the good. There's a lot of noise and commotion, with horns and bells and drums, to make it even more fun and exciting.

It's a really old tradition, going back hundreds of years, and it's still celebrated today. It's a way for people to come together and celebrate their culture and history.
