ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Perfboard

Perfboard is like a blank Lego board made of plastic with a lot of tiny holes in it. You know how in Legos you can use different sized blocks to make awesome structures? Perfboard is the same way. Instead of building a tower, though, you can use it to build circuits! A circuit is like a road for electricity to travel through.

Each hole in the perfboard is like a place to stick a Lego brick, only it is for things that can carry electricity like tiny metal wires. You can make a circuit by putting metal wires in the holes, and then connecting those wires together to make a tiny path for electricity to travel. This allows you to make electronic devices like glowing lights, beeping alarms, and digital displays.

When you are finished building your new circuit on the perfboard, it allows you to just pick it up and take it with you wherever you want, like to school or a friend's house. This makes it very convenient for you to share and work on all kinds of electronics projects!
