ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Perfect complex

Okay kiddo, have you ever heard of numbers called complex numbers? They have two parts, one is a regular number and the other is a special one called "i" which means the square root of -1. This might be confusing, but just remember that complex numbers are like a brand new type of math we can use for lots of cool stuff.

Now, let's talk about perfect complex. It's a special type of complex number where if you add up all the smaller numbers called divisors (which are numbers that divide perfectly into another number) of a perfect complex number, except for the number itself, you get the same number as the original complex number.

For example, one perfect complex number is 70+130i. The divisors of 70 are 1, 2, 5, 7, 10, 14, 35, and if we add up all of those (excluding 70), we get 54. The divisors of 130 are 1, 2, 5, 10, 13, 26, 65, and if we add up all of those (excluding 130), we get 112. Now, if we add 54 and 112 together, we get 166.

And guess what? 166 is equal to the original perfect complex number - 70-130i! That's the magic of a perfect complex number. It's like a puzzle that fits perfectly together, just like when you fit two Lego pieces together. Pretty cool, huh?
