Perforation

Perforation is when you make a hole or a bunch of little holes in something. Imagine you have a paper and you take a hole puncher and punch a hole in it, that is perforation. You can also see perforation on stamps, where the little squares are separated from each other and can be easily torn off. Perforation is also used in medicine sometimes, when doctors need to make little holes in someone's eardrum to help them hear better. Sometimes, people also get perforated organs, which means that there is a hole in their organ and it can be dangerous and may make them feel sick. But most of the time, perforation is just a way of making a hole or creating a pattern in something.
