ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Performance engineering

Performance engineering is like making a car go as fast as possible. Just like cars have engines and tires that need to work together, computer programs and websites have parts that need to work together to make them run fast.

Performance engineers are like car mechanics but for computer programs. They make sure that all the different parts of a program work well together so that it runs quickly and smoothly. They also make sure that the program can handle lots of people using it at the same time without breaking.

If you've ever played a computer game or used a website that felt slow, you know it can be frustrating. Performance engineers make sure that your experience using those programs is always fast and seamless. It's like having a mechanic make sure your car runs smoothly, but for your computer programs!
