Persecution of the early Christians
Okay, so a long time ago, people liked to worship different gods and beliefs. But some people believed in a man named Jesus, and they decided to follow his teachings. These people were called Christians. However, many people didn't like the Christians because they believed in only one God, and they thought it was disrespectful to the other gods they worshipped.
Because of this, many early Christians were treated really badly. They were punished, tortured, and even killed just for believing in Jesus. Some people thought that the Christians were causing trouble and not following the law, so they wanted to get rid of them.
In fact, one of the most famous persecutors of the early Christians was a Roman emperor named Nero. He burned down a whole city and blamed it on the Christians, which made everyone even more upset with them. It was really scary for the Christians, and they had to hide in secret places and do things in secret to avoid being caught.
However, even though the Christians were being persecuted, they continued to hold onto their beliefs and faith. They knew that what they were doing was right, and they didn't want to give it up just because other people didn't like it.
