ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Persistent current

Persistent current is when electricity keeps flowing in a loop even after the power has been turned off. It is like a river that keeps flowing even after you have stopped pouring water into it - the current keeps flowing until it is gone! It is made by wrapping wires around a magnet and then adding electricity. This creates a magnetic field that causes the electricity to keep flowing even after you turn the power off.
