Person of interest

A "person of interest" is someone who is being looked at very carefully by the police or other people who are investigating something. For example, imagine that a crime happened and the police think that someone might know something important about it. That person might become a "person of interest" because the police want to talk to them and find out what they know. It just means that the police are paying extra attention to that person because they might have useful information.
