ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Perspective-taking

Perspective-taking is when you try to imagine how someone else might see or experience something. To explain this with an example, if I had an argument with my mom, I could try to take her perspective by thinking about why she might be feeling angry with me right now. I could imagine what she might be thinking or feeling, and try to understand her situation better. Taking her perspective would help me to understand why she's angry and figure out how to make things better.
