Petrine Baroque

Okay kiddo, have you ever heard of a famous artist named Michelangelo? He made some pretty amazing sculptures and paintings, right? Well, a few hundred years after Michelangelo, another group of artists called the Petrine Baroque artists started making really beautiful and fancy things too!

The Petrine Baroque was a style of art that was created in Russia during the rule of Peter the Great. It was named after him because he was the one who really encouraged this new style of art to be made. The Petrine Baroque was all about big, bold and beautiful designs that were meant to impress people.

One way that the Petrine Baroque style was shown was in the buildings that were made during this time. The buildings were huge and had lots of decorations, like gold and lots of colorful paint. Inside the buildings, there were also lots of beautiful decorations like paintings and sculptures.

Another way that the Petrine Baroque was shown was in the clothing that people wore. The clothes were very fancy and colorful, with lots of patterns and decorations. They even wore big hats with feathers on them!

So, the Petrine Baroque was a time in Russia where people wanted to show off and make things that were very elaborate and beautiful. They wanted to impress others and show their power and wealth. It was a really cool time for art, architecture, and fashion!
