ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Petrol-electric transmission

A petrol-electric transmission is a type of car engine that combines an electric motor with a petrol engine. The petrol engine powers the car's wheels, and the electric motor provides extra power when the car needs it most. This makes the car more efficient because it uses both types of engine, meaning it doesn't use as much fuel as a car with just one type. When the electric motor isn't being used, the energy it creates is stored in a battery so it can be used again later on.
