Okay kiddo, so in the Bible, there are stories about a group of people called the Israelites who were slaves in a place called Egypt. The leader of Egypt back then was called a pharaoh – kind of like a very powerful king.
One of the most famous pharaohs in the Bible was named Ramses II (pronounced Ram-seez the Second). He was the one who is said to have enslaved the Israelites and made them work really hard to build things like big statues and temples.
But then, there was a guy named Moses who helped the Israelites escape from Egypt and led them on a journey to a new land called Canaan. Moses had to go talk to the pharaoh and ask him to let the Israelites go free, but the pharaoh didn't want to because he wanted them to keep working for him.
So God sent 10 plagues to convince the pharaoh to let the Israelites go. Each plague was a big problem that affected the people and animals in Egypt. Finally, after the 10th plague, the pharaoh agreed to let the Israelites leave. But then he changed his mind and chased after them with his army.
That's when God parted the Red Sea and let the Israelites cross safely to the other side, while the pharaoh and his army were drowned. So, that's the story of the pharaohs in the Bible – they were powerful leaders of Egypt who caused a lot of trouble for the Israelites.
