Philanthropy in the United States

Philanthropy means giving money or time to help people in need. In the United States, people, companies, and foundations (groups of people who have money to give) all give money, time, and other resources to help people and make the world better. People usually give money to nonprofits (organizations that help people without making a profit). Companies can also give money to causes that they care about. Foundations give money to causes too and sometimes help support nonprofits. Different causes get donations, like education, protecting the environment, and helping people in need. All of these donations help people and make the world a better place.
