Philistines

Philistines were a group of people who lived a very long time ago in a place called Canaan. They were enemies of the Israelites and fought against them many times. They were known for not being very nice to the Israelites.

Now, the word "philistine" is sometimes used to describe someone who is not interested in art, culture, or learning new things. Kind of like when someone says "You're such a philistine!" if you don't want to go to a museum or read a book. But it's not very nice to say that!
