Piezomagnetism is when certain materials can become magnetic when they are squeezed, or put under pressure. Think of it like squeezing a stress ball and it changing color. The pressure changes the inside of the material just enough to make it magnetic. This happens because of the way the atoms inside the material are arranged. When the material is squeezed, the atoms move closer together and start to behave differently, making it magnetic. It’s like magic! But scientists have been studying it for a long time and know a lot about how it works.
