Pillbox (military)

A military pillbox is like a little house, but it's not for people to live in. It's usually made of really strong materials like concrete or steel and it's built specifically for soldiers to use in battle.

Think of it like a special kind of fort. Imagine you and your friends built a fort out of sticks and blankets in your backyard - but this is a fort that has walls and a roof made of really tough stuff, so it can keep you safe from bullets and bombs.

Pillboxes are usually in places where there might be fighting, like on beaches or in forests or mountains. The soldiers can go inside and watch out for enemies through little holes or slots in the walls. They can also point their weapons out the holes to shoot at the bad guys if they get too close.

Pillboxes are an important part of military strategy because they allow soldiers to have a safe place to wait and watch for the enemy, and to fight back if they need to. It helps to keep troops safe and gives them an advantage in battle.
