Plan of salvation (Latter Day Saints)

The Plan of Salvation is a teaching of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (also known as the "Mormon" Church). It's a way to help us understand our purpose in life and what will happen after we die.

The Plan of Salvation starts with a fundamental belief that there is a loving Heavenly Father (God) and his son, Jesus Christ. When we were born, our spirits left our heavenly home and were given physical bodies so we could live and learn here on Earth. When we die, our physical bodies will return to the earth and our spirits will go back to our heavenly home.

God created a plan to help us learn and grow while here on earth. In this plan, God gave us special gifts and opportunities to help us understand who we are. He gave us families so we could learn to love and care for one another. He also gave us the power to choose between right and wrong, called agency.

God also made a promise that if we use our agency to choose the right and obey his commandments, then Jesus Christ will provide a way for us to be forgiven of our sins and return to our heavenly home with Him someday. This is called the Atonement of Jesus Christ. The Atonement of Jesus Christ is what makes the Plan of Salvation possible.

The Plan of Salvation teaches us that if we make good choices in this life and follow Jesus Christ, that we can be saved from death and return to live with Him and our Father in Heaven for eternity.
