ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Planning (cognitive)

Planning is like making a map in your head to get to a special place. Remember how we made a treasure map with steps to find the treasure? That's how planning works in our brain.

Just like how you planned to take the bus to go to the zoo and see the animals, planning involves thinking ahead and making a plan for what to do or where to go. It also means figuring out how to get there and what we need to do while we are there.

For example, if we are planning to do our homework, we need to think about what we need to do first, second, and third. We also need to think about the things we need to do our homework, like pencils and paper. We need to plan ahead to make sure that we have everything we need to do a good job.

Planning requires using our memory to think about the steps we need to take to accomplish something. It also involves imagining what might happen in the future and preparing for it. So, like a little adventurer, we should be ready to face whatever challenges we may encounter and plan ahead to reach our goals.
