ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Ploce (figure of speech)

Okay kiddo, have you ever heard of the word "ploce"? It's a fancy way of saying a figure of speech that repeats a word within a sentence or phrase to emphasize its importance or to add more meaning to it.

Let's say you have a really yummy piece of cake in front of you. You could say "This cake is so good!" But, if you wanted to use ploce to emphasize just how good it is, you could say "This cake is not just good, it's really, really good!" See how I repeated the word "good" to really make a point?

Another example could be if you were telling someone about a scary movie you saw. Instead of just saying "It was scary", you could say "It wasn't just scary, it was really, really scary!" That way, the person you're talking to knows just how scary the movie was to you.

So, ploce is like using a word twice (or more) in a sentence to really make it stand out and emphasize its meaning.
