Point shaving is a type of cheating in sports. It happens when a player (or team) works with somebody to make sure they don't score as much as they normally would. For example, if a basketball team is supposed to score 100 points in a game, they might make a deal with somebody so that they only score 90 points instead. That way, they help the other team win and that person can make money off of it. Point shaving is illegal and it can get people in a lot of trouble.
