A point source of pollution is something that releases pollution in one specific place. It usually looks like a pipe or tube. Pollution can come out of it, like smoke or a smelly gas, that is damaging to the environment. The smoke or gas can float away and pollute the air, the ground, or the water, wherever it travels. For example, a factory often releases pollution into the air through a big metal pipe. That metal pipe is a point source of pollution.
