Point-of-sale

A point-of-sale is a special place where we buy things. It is usually a counter or a machine where we pay for the things we want to buy.

Imagine that you are in a big store with your mom, and you want to buy a toy. You go to the cashier, who has a computer and a scanner.

The scanner is like a magic wand that reads the code on the toy's box, and tells the computer how much the toy costs.

The computer tells the cashier what the price is, and the cashier tells you and your mom how much money you need to pay.

You give the cashier the money, and he gives you a receipt. You leave the point-of-sale happy, with your new toy!
