Police abolition movement

So, you know how grown ups sometimes call the police when they're in trouble or if someone is doing something really bad? The police are supposed to help and make things better. But this doesn't always happen 'cause sometimes the police can be mean and scary to some people, especially people who look different than them, like people with brown skin.

The police abolition movement is a group of grown ups who want to change the way things are done so that everyone feels safe when they call the police, not just some people. They want to create a new way of helping people when they're in trouble that doesn't involve the traditional policing system we have right now.

Instead of just calling the police for everything, they want to have a lot of different groups who can help people in different ways. These groups would work together to keep people safe and make sure bad stuff doesn't happen. They could have groups for mental health, housing, addiction, and other things that could lead to someone needing help.

Basically, the police abolition movement wants to create a world where everyone feels safe and protected, regardless of the color of their skin or how much money they have. They don't want to get rid of all the helpers, they just want to make sure there are different options available so that everyone can get the help they need without being scared or hurt.
