Polyphemus

Polyphemus is a character from Greek mythology, kind of like a story book. He was a giant, with a big eye in the middle of his forehead. Polyphemus was not very nice to people, and he lived on an island in the middle of the sea.

One day, a man named Odysseus and his friends landed on Polyphemus' island. They went to his cave to ask for help, but Polyphemus was not happy about it. He captured all of Odysseus' friends, and planned to eat them for dinner.

But Odysseus was very clever. He gave Polyphemus some wine and got him drunk. Then, when Polyphemus was asleep, Odysseus and his friends poked out his big eye. This made Polyphemus very angry, and he threw rocks and things at them.

Finally, Odysseus and his friends managed to escape from the island. Polyphemus was left alone on his island, unable to see properly because of his missing eye.
