Pomace brandy is a type of alcohol that comes from grapes. Now, grapes are those yummy little fruits that we probably eat all the time! When we make the juice from these grapes, there are leftover pieces, kind of like when we eat an apple and there are still bits of skin and seeds left over. These grape leftovers are called pomace, and it's what we make pomace brandy from.
So, we take the pomace and we ferment it, which means we start a chemical reaction that turns it into alcohol. Now, you might have heard of fermenting before when you learned about baking bread or making pickles. It's basically when we add something to the pomace that makes it turn into alcohol. After that, we put the fermented pomace into a big pot and heat it up to make the alcohol evaporate and turn into steam. Then we catch that steam and cool it down really quickly, which turns it back into a liquid. And voila! We have pomace brandy.
Now, pomace brandy is a different type of alcohol than regular brandy because it's made from these leftover grape bits instead of just the juice. This gives it a bit of a different taste and smell. Some people really like it!
