Pommes soufflées are fancy potatoes that look like puffy clouds!
First, a grown-up takes a special tool and peels the potatoes into long stripes. Then, they cut the stripes into small cubes and fry them in hot oil, just like making french fries.
But here's the tricky part: after frying the potatoes once, the grown-up takes them out of the oil, and then quickly dips them in water. This causes the potatoes to release some steam and become puffy like a balloon!
Next, the grown-up fries the potatoes a second time until they turn golden-brown and crispy. When they come out of the oil, they look like little clouds!
Finally, the pommes soufflées are lightly salted and served hot as a fancy and delicious side dish. Yum!
