Population of Canada by years

Okay kiddo, so every year Canada counts how many people live in the country. This is called the population of Canada.

When Canada was first a country a long time ago, there were only a few hundred thousand people living there. But over time, more and more people moved to Canada from other countries or were born there, so the population grew bigger and bigger.

So in one year, let's say there were 10 people living in Canada. The next year, if nobody left but two babies were born, then the population of Canada would be 12 people. Does that make sense?

As the years went by and more people had babies and moved to Canada, the population got really big. In 2019, the population of Canada was around 37 million people! That's a lot of people, right?

And every year, the government of Canada counts how many people there are and makes graphs and charts to show how the population is growing or shrinking. This is how we can see how many people were in Canada in any given year.
