Portmanteau theorem

Okay kiddo, have you ever heard of a portmanteau suitcase? You know, the one where you can put two things together and it becomes one suitcase? Well, a portmanteau theorem works kind of like that!

In statistics, we use something called a time series to measure a set of data over a period of time. The portmanteau theorem helps us figure out if there is any correlation between different time points in the series.

Basically, think of it like a puzzle. Each time point is like a puzzle piece, and we want to see if the pieces fit together to create a picture.

The portmanteau theorem looks at different ways to measure how well the puzzle pieces fit together. It checks to see if there are any patterns, gaps, or places where the pieces are too crowded.

And just like how a portmanteau suitcase is stronger when the two sides fit together perfectly, we want our time series to have a strong correlation between all the time points. That way, we can better understand the data we're looking at and make more accurate predictions for the future.
